Miracles in Motion Performing Arts Centre competition team is a little different than most competition dance teams. Ms. Julie chooses those students who fit the best on the team, but she also gives any student who wants to participate in competition a chance too. Competitions should be a positive, fun learning experience for the children, not just about the wins. Yes, winning is great, but, students will learn a great deal more about themselves if and when they lose sometimes. We teach each and every team member that they need to be kind, loving, helpful and to never ever be snobby or rude to each other or other teams no matter what. Winning is not everything. When a team member or group does win, we teach them to win graciously and to always be humble, but learn from their experience. Never give up and try harder next time.
Competition practice takes a great deal of extra time, more practices, more money, more of everything from both the student and the parent. If the student or parent are not willing to put the time and work in, then, he or she is not ready to be on the competition team. If it is finances that is the only issue, we always have fundraisers to help offset out of pocket costs for each student, so it is not a financial burden on the family. Learning to dance takes years and years of hard work and dedication. It does not happen overnight. If a child and parent are willing to put in the work then, he or she deserves to be on the MIMPAC competition team!!!
